Conseling for Children 6-12
Wondering If Your Child Needs Support? Let’s Figure It Out Together.
You’re worried about your child but unsure if you should be. Will they grow out of this? Is it just their personality? Is this age-appropriate? Maybe they remind you of yourself as a child, but everything seems harder for them.
A child’s play is their language—let’s work together to understand it. Through therapy, we can help your child build confidence, grow resilience, and navigate emotions, while also reducing power struggles and creating more ease at home. You don’t have to do this alone—support is here.
Individual Play Therapy
Individual play therapy is ideal for children 4-12 and serves children who experience behavioral problems, such as anger management, grief and loss, divorce and crisis or trauma. Our time together will include child and counselor play therapy sessions and separate dedicated time for caregiver supports.
-
As our children grow into middle childhood, supporting their growth independently is important. Play therapy helps children process emotions, regulate their nervous system, and strengthen relationships by integrating neuroscience, mindfulness, and attachment theory. Through attuned play, children learn to manage emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills.
Dyadic Play Therapy
Dyadic play therapy is ideal for children ages 2.5–7 experiencing anxiety, attachment wounds, or behavioral concerns, as well as parents navigating their own struggles while supporting a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our time together will include both caregiver-only appointments and playroom sessions together.
-
When challenges arise—whether from difficult experiences, a child’s temperament, or uncertainty about their needs—it can be hard to know how to respond.
Dyadic play therapy helps caregivers and children build connection, support nervous system regulation, and foster secure relationships. This approach reduces challenging behaviors, strengthens the caregiver-child bond and empowers the parent through self-reflection and education.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for Kids
EMDR is ideal for children 5 and older who have experienced a traumatic event or facing emotional and psychological challenges. Our time together will include both caregiver-only appointments and child only time in the playroom or playroom sessions together.
-
EMDR helps children process and heal from trauma, anxiety, and distressing experiences. Using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, sounds or marching), EMDR guides the brain in reprocessing difficult memories, reducing their emotional intensity. Therapy is adapted using play, storytelling and creative activities to support emotional regulation, build resielience and help children feel safer and more in control.
Group Psychotherapy for Children
Groups are ideal for children aged 6-12 and support growth in regulation, social-emotional skills and building healthy relationships. Our time together will be in small groups with 1 counselor and 6 children lasting 1.5 to 3 hours long depending on the group.
-
Group therapy is a safe, supportive space where kids come together to learn social-emotional skills, process emotions, and build healthy relationships. Through play, structured activities, and guided interactions, children practice communication, emotional regulation, and problem-solving in a group setting. Group therapy helps children feel understood, develop confidence, and learn from peers. It’s especially helpful for kids struggling with anxiety, social challenges, trauma, or emotional regulation, providing a sense of connection and belonging while building lifelong coping skills.
